Kevin R. Dunn

Distinctive, inventive and honest to God, psalmist/songwriter Kevin R. Dunn’s music, bridges gaps and unites people by speaking to the hearts of children and adults regardless of cultural background. Whether the audience numbers five or five hundred Kevin minister’s for an audience of one.

Raised in Alabama, Kevin’s spiritual and musical growth was shaped at a young age by his parents in the church. “We had to be in church. I don’t care how late you stayed up or hung out. There was no choice. If I tried to play sick so I wouldn’t have to go to church, I couldn’t suddenly feel better around 3:00 and play outside. I had to be sick the whole day.”

Extremely shy about singing in public, Kevin’s first attempts at singing solo in his youth choir resulted in an instrumental. Later inspired by the wedding episode of the popular hit television show “Good Times” and the desire to sing at his sister’s wedding, Kevin secretly practiced, perfected, and then publicly performed “We’re Going All The Way” to a surprised yet delighted and appreciative congregation. From that moment on, his confidence and love of performing blossomed. He began to sing solos in his church choir, talent shows and weddings.

It was not until Kevin allowed God to take total control of his life that his music experienced a new anointing. God is allowing Kevin to touch lost souls, break the yoke of depression and suicide, and challenge people to live victorious lives. Kevin currently ministers through music at West Georgia Hospice where he’s been weekly for the last 11 years, where many of theindividuals, some as young as 11 years old have two weeks to three months to live. When some, who are knocking on death’s door might question God and His will, Kevin reminds them that God is still in charge. In the midst of the storm Kevin helps God’s people see, that there is a perfect Father who brings security hope and reassurance. When the battle is over there will be comfort. There will be peace.

Kevin’s lyrics inspire people to invite God to transform their minds and their lives. His sole purpose is to praise and magnify God, being obedient to his word. His ambition/assignment is that those lyrics will be greatly respected tunes that people turn to when they need a word, a song. Like the works of Thomas Dorsey writer of “Precious Lord,” and C. A. Martin’s “His Eye is on the Sparrow,” Kevin wants his music to bring comfort, when you’re going through, for generations to come.

Kevin’s covenant with God to minister to God’s people regardless of mood or situation has brought blessings untold to him and his family. Kevin resides in LaGrange, Georgia and was married to Deborah Dunn for 20 years before her passing on July 4th, 2016 and they have 5 children Latoya, Heather, Cameron, Olivia, and J’Arthur Dunn. The Dunn family worships at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Lanett Alabama where Kevin is a Worship Ministry Leader, and serves as an ordained Deacon.
